Here at Avonmore we have been offering LCQ (Liquor Licence Qualification) training since 1994 with qualified and experienced tutors who can answer all of your questions. At Avonmore we also believe in small class sizes, with a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 18, to ensure personal attention, greater participation and increased discussion. Avonmore is a well recognised provider for the LCQ course and complies with Service IQ standards and requirements.
Please note that Food & Health Standards (2006) Limited. deliver the Avonmore course under licence.
The LCQ certification caters to those people wishing to apply for their Managers Certification, either now or in the near future, as well as bar staff, for example, who may wish to improve their knowledge and employment prospects.
Our course delivers two New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) Unit Standards required for the LCQ which include:
- 4646 – Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licenced premises
- 16705 – Demonstrate knowledge of Host Responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises
To pass the course you will need to have a good grasp of the English language, as this is the only language tests can be undertaken in.
To complete the course you must attend one day of training and complete an assessment following this. Please be aware that 100% completion in the assessment test is required to achieve the qualification, which can be achieved over three attempts.
Please also be aware that if you fail to turn up for your course booking there will be no refund of the fee paid. In the case of unforeseen circumstances you should contact us as soon as possible, in advance of your course date.
Following your successful completion of this course we will send your application form to Service IQ who will send you your LCQ certificate. Once you receive the LCQ certificate you can then file your application (and pay the $316.25 fee) for a managers certificate with the District Licensing Committee at the appropriate council.
Students must show a good command of English.
The LCQ course is currently run in Christchurch and at times in other destinations around the South Island – please check carefully when enrolling that you are enrolling for the correct course.
